Upper West Side style: it’s not an oxymoron. Really.
Originally from Chicago, I moved to NYC in April 2001. Being here during the events of 9/11 cemented my bond to the city, and I’ve been living on the UWS for most of the past 10 years. I have a tremendous amount of affection for this neighborhood, and want to use this blog to showcase style, fashion, shopping,and life on the Upper West Side.
I’m a pediatric nurse practitioner and the mother of two boys. I love fashion, and am the beauty editor at Fashionista.com. I’ve contributed to other sites like Elle.com, Salon.com, and the Westside Independent. Writing is my second act.
I hope you enjoy this foray into my neighborhood. It may not be the hippest or most interesting one in NYC, but it’s the one that I love the most.

I live on the UWS and love, love, love the area for it’s proximity to the park and just it’s natural beauty, but feel like I’m just too young to live here and haven’t figured out where to go to do anything! Where can I go to just sit and read a book? On a comfy chair during the day or at a quiet-ish bar for dinner? Help! I want to stay in the area, but have to figure out where to go…..
