An unparalleled and momentous shopping experience is coming to the Upper West Side. Racked NY reports that Rag & Bone is opening up in the former Peter’s restaurant space (68th and Columbus). If you’re not familiar with Rag & Bone, a small sampling of their delicious goods can be found at the Barney’s CO-OP on Broadway.
Marcus Wainwright and David Neville got their start designing menswear, and this year they won the CFDA award for best menswear designer. They’ve been designing women’s wear since 2005, and it gets better every season.
Their universally praised Fall 2010 collection, which they say was inspired by the “crazy English guys who climbed Mount Everest in the twenties in tweed” is menswear for girls. Luscious tweed coats, military camo pieces, lots of layers, capes, and the best booties in the business.
I went to a trunk show at Barney’s and got to meet the designers, but was too shy to actually ask them anything hard-hitting. I also ordered an olive wool army jacket (fall trend alert!) and can’t wait to get it.
The store is scheduled to open in October. Do check it out and please shop there! Perhaps other cool brands will come to the Upper West Side and take over the Uggs store.
