Here’s a Sampling of Shoes Worn By Actual Residents of the Upper West Side

Clockwise from top: Square-toed flats of indeterminate brand, Birkenstocks, Havaianas flip-flops, Rag & Bone lug soles w/red laces, bronze clogs, Chanel ballet flats

I cannot take credit for the brilliance of this photo. It was taken by my friend C who noticed one morning at school drop-off that everyone’s footwear was so different. She then suggested a caption for the picture: Guess which woman lives in Connecticut? (Hint: It’s C, who just tragically moved from the UWS to Connecticut). Guess which shoes are mine? (Hint: NOT the Birkenstocks, no offense to my other friend C who actually has very good taste in footwear, except for the Birkies).

Anyway. Slow news day on the Upper West Side today.

Brilliant! I love the shoe watch on the streets around Upper West Side apartments. A collection of such photographs would make a fascinating book.
